Coconut cultivation project

The Coconut Cultivation Board, Matale has taken measures to extend the coconut cultivation in the district by another 405 acres, according to the Provincial Assistant Manager Nawaratne Banda. The proposed extension program covers 12 Divisional Secretariat areas. Under new subsidy program about 7,214 people get all the facilities towards this end.

In addition, the Coconut Board will provide coconut seedling for home gardens too. The Provincial Assistant Manager said they have enough coconut nurseries, and seedling could be provided to State and private sectors.
