Lobby for GSP+ facility
The business community should take the initiative
to lobby for the GSP+ facility as its withdrawal would affect
potential industrialists planning to set up garment factories in the
North and the East, said Vice President of the SAARC Chamber of
Commerce and immediate past President of the Federation of Chamber
of Commerce Sri Lanka Nawaz Rajabdeen.

Many first time buyers were impressed by the
range and quality of the gem and jewellery products at the FACETS
2009. They acknowledged that Sri Lanka is on par with other major
gem trading centres in the region such as Hong Kong, Bangkok, Jaipur,

New shipping and aviation body fulfils long-felt need
A new corporate body, Shipping and Aviation
Information and Research (Pvt) Ltd., was set up to engage in marine
and aviation services research to provide the best shipping and
aviation services for South Asia, said Minister of Ports and
