A group of specialist doctors of the Kandy General Hospital yesterday
successfully removed a 8kg growth suspected to be a cancer from the
stomach of a 27 year old teacher from the Kalmunai area.
This teacher M.U.Shifani had been admitted to the Kalmunai Hospital
seeking medical treatment for a swelling in her stomach. The patient who
did not recover had been subsequently admitted to the Kandy General
Hospital for treatment. A group of specialist doctors of the Kandy
General Hospital examined the patient yesterday and performed successful
surgery on her and removed the growth.
The operation lasted for nearly two hours. According to Dr.Channa
Dunuwila the patient is recovering well after the surgery. She is
presently undergoing treatment at Ward No:27 of the Kandy General
Hospital. |
