Digital technology for television transmission

The Cabinet has approved a memorandum submitted by Mass Media and Information Minister and Investment Promotion and Enterprises Development Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa to facilitate the investment promotion in to the June 30, 2011 enabling the BOI to facilitate the investment promotion into the Northern and Eastern Provinces and ensure the successful completion of the program.


Establishment of Provincial council headquarters for Northern Province.

The Cabinet has approved a memorandum submitted by Local Government and Provincial Councils Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon to provide Rs. 900 million allocation under the vote of this Ministry in the Budget estimate for 2010 for the reconstruction of Provincial councils of the Northern Province in Mankulam.

Provide an allocation of Rs 625 million under the vote of this Ministry in the budget estimate for 2010 for the reconstruction of damaged local authority building in the Northern Province and establish the provincial council headquarters of the Northern Province in Mankulam and assign the responsibility of entire co-ordination and implementation of re-establishing fully or partially damaged local authority building in the Northern Province to the special project unit already established under the Local Government and Provincial Councils Ministry.


Proposed petroleum resources development secretariat facility

The Cabinet has approved a memorandum submitted by Petroleum and Petroleum Resources Development Minister A.H.M. Fowzie to propose a petroleum resources development secretariat facility in the petroleum resources development secretariat building with the finances already allocated from the Treasury for 2009 and also to allocate Rs. 100m for 2010 from the General Treasury and to utilise Rs. 200m for this project from the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation funds of a levy imposed by the Treasury.


Greater Colombo urban transport development project outer circular highway project (OCH) to the city of Colombo

The Cabinet has approved a memorandum submitted by Highways and Road Development Minister President Mahinda Rajapaksa to award the contract for JICA funded Outer Circular Highway Project (OCH) to the city of Colombo, Southern Section from Kaduwela to Kottawa be awarded to. China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd. for Rs.24,982,601,824.00 excluding VAT.


Funding for operationalising the road map for disaster risk management

The Cabinet has approved a memorandum submitted by Disaster Management and Human Rights, Minister Mahinda Samarasinhe to implement the project "Operationalising the road map for disaster risk management" under UNDP assistance of USD 2,100,000 and to authorise the Disaster Management Ministry Secretary to sign program agreement with UNDP.


Production of vaccine against foot and mouth disease locally for the enhancement of the livestock industry

The Cabinet has approved a memorandum submitted by Livestock Development Minister, R.M.C.B. Rathnayake to allocate Rs. 75 million to the Department of Animal Production and Health from the consolidated fund with an initial allocation of Rs. 60 million in 2010, with the balance to be released within the next year in equal amounts


Neuro-surgical Theatre at the Teaching Hospital Karapitiya, Galle

The Cabinet has approved a memorandum submitted by Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva to establish a Neuro-surgical theatre at the teaching hospital, Karapitiya, Galle utilising Rs 40,000,000.00 (Rs. 40 million) from the consolidated fund.


Allocation of lands in Muturajawela buffer zone for compatible uses

The Cabinet has approved a memorandum submitted by Urban Development and Sacred Area Development Minister Dinesh Gunawardena to call proposals jointly with Board of Investment (BOI) from prospective investors.

This is an area highly exposed to encroachments, unauthorised developments and illegal activities.

Therefore the allocation of these lands to environmental friendly projects will prevent such activities. A development in the tourism sector could also be expected with the implementation of the proposal.


Implementation of special housing program at Kalmunai and Sainthamaruthu

The Cabinet has approved a memorandum submitted by Nation Building and Estate Infrastructure Minister President Mahinda Rajapaksa to implement a special housing program for tsunami affected families at Kalmunai and Sainthamaruthu DS division in Ampara district.
