House ownership for Govt servants in Galle

Government servants can now apply for ownership of 1,088 houses in Habaraduwa and Wakunagda in the Galle District, Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister and Deputy Finance Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama said.

He said the Ministry has plans to construct about 10,000 houses in Kundasale, Kelaniya, Homagama and Ragama shortly.

The applicants will be required to make a ground payment of 10 percent of the total value of the house initially and reserve it. The balance will be deducted from their monthly salary, the Minister said. Applications received from the public servants will be reviewed according to a points system stipulated by the Public Administration and Home Affairs Ministry advertised in the papers of August 21.

The selection will be done by a committee comprising a representative from the Public Administration, Home Affairs Ministry and National Housing Development Authority and Board of Investment.
