Minister shuts down two Chinese restaurants

The licences of two Chinese restaurants run by foreigners were cancelled by the Tourism Ministry on a directive of Tourism Promotion Minister Faizer Mustapha for not conforming to proper hygenic standards.

The kitchens of Five Star hotels and Tourist Board approved restaurants in the Colombo city came under Mustapha's inspection on Wednesday night.

The Minister along with the Ministry officials and CMC Public Health Officers noticed rats in these restaurants. The Minister also looked into the facilities provided to the employees of Tourist Board approved restaurants in Colombo.

He has instructed the restaurant owners to improve the facilities provided to these employees.
