IAAF to decide five Jamaicans’ fate today
Athletics’ world ruling body the IAAF has said it will decide today
the fate of five Jamaican sprinters who were recently cleared by
Jamaican athletics chiefs after testing positive for a stimulant.
Jamaica boasts the world’s fastest man over 100m in Usain Bolt, but
the entire team’s credibility was undermined last month following
revelations that five sprinters set to compete at the August 15-23 world
championships here tested positive for methylhexanamine.
The stimulant is not included on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)
banned list, a factor which led to Jamaica’s Anti-Doping Commission
(JADCO) to clear the quintet from any wrongdoing. AFP
