Six-a-side Softball Cricket Tournament

All island Dennis Fonseka Memorial Deaf Six-a-side Softball Cricket Tournament for the Ryle de Mel Trophies, will be held at the Shalika grounds, Narahenpita, Colombo 5 on Sunday 16th August 2009, commencing at 9.00 a.m.

It is organized by the Deaf School Past Pupils' Association, The School for the Deaf, Ratmalana under the leadership of former sports star, Shivantha Vivekanandan who is the President and chairman - Diamond Jubilee Organizing Committee, Deaf School Past Pupils' Association, Ratmalana. Many teams from the Deaf Associations in Sri Lanka will participate on a knock out basis in this tournament.

President Shivantha Vivekanandan stated that the champions and Runners- up will receive the Ryle de Mel trophies and cash prizes. Special trophies and the cash prizes are also on offer to the Best batsman, Best bowler and Man of the Series.

He also said that this tournament is honoured to Late Mr. Dennis Fonseka, a distinguished past pupil from The School for the Deaf, Ratmalana, was the Hony. Secretary for 32 years, President for 1 year and Hony. Treasurer for 1 year as well as Hony. Life Member of the Association.
