Law and order will be protected - Cabinet Spokesman

The Government will take action against the culprits if the recently
discovered bomb van is found to be a fake. In addition to this, various
views expressed by journalists on this issue and related issues will be
conveyed to the Government, Cabinet Spokesman and Information and Media
Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa said.
Addressing the weekly Cabinet press briefing held at the Government
Information Department Auditorium yesterday, Minister Yapa said that
according to the country's law, an inquest is conducted for every death
and no death becomes lawful without the conducting of an inquest by a
Magistrate. During an inquest the judiciary of the country has
significant power to give a verdict considering all evidence and other
facts. Police officers were convicted and punished before for various
offenses.
Minister Yapa said that orders have already been given to hold
inquiries in to the assault of the recent student attack An
investigation will be held in connection with the Angulana incident.
Investigations were held in connection with Embilipitiya student's
murder case and the culprits punished.
The Government is not trying to change the democratic face of the
country and is always dedicated to protect law and order and democracy.
