Fund raiser for war heroes, families

The Seva Vanitha Branch of the Artillery Regiment, Panagoda will stage a musical evening at the National Youth Services Council Auditorium Maharagama in aid of a fund for the welfare of war heroes and their families on August 22.

Leading artistes including Edward Jayakody, Sanath and Malkanthi Nandasiri, Charitha Priyadarshini, Rodney Warnakula and Amarasiri Peiris will participate.

The Army band will provide music.


Ceremony to welcome Governor

A ceremony to welcome Sabaragamuwa Province Governor Janaka Priyantha Bandara will be held on August 15 at the Town Hall, Ratnapura. Speaker W.J.M. Lokubandara will preside.

Ministers John Seneviratne and Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Deputy Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Chief Minister Maheepala Herath, Parliamentarians Ven. Omalpe Sobitha Thera, Ven. Uduwe Dhammaloka Thera, Ven. Akmeemana Dayaratana Thera and Thalatha Athukorale will participate.


Special prayer, meditation

A special prayer and meditation has been organized to invoke blessings for permanent peace at the Madhu Shrine today from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. This event has been organized by the Welfare Society members of Caritas Sri Lanka SEDEC. The prayer and meditation will take place with the participation of Rev. Fr. Damian Fernando, National Director, of CSL-SEDEC including all staff.


Krishnamurti talk

A recorded public talk on "Seeking Security" delivered by the late Indian sage J. Krishnamurti will be replayed at the Public Library auditorium, Colombo 7 on August 16, Sunday at 10.30 a.m.


Yoga program

The Sri Sri Yoga program in Colombo is scheduled to begin on August Saturday 15.

The Sri Lanka Chapter of the Art of Living is organizing sessions for diabetics, asthma, stress-relief and weight loss. Sri Sri Yoga is a 10 hour program spread over five days in convenient time-slots. The best aspect of Sri Sri Yoga program is that every individual begins to learn easily from the level of his or her own body comfort without forcing or straining themselves.
