Eighth Annual Sales Convention of Asian Insurance

AAI celebrated their eighth Annual Sales Convention - "Quality Awards 2009" on July 27 at the Waters Edge, Battaramulla. The awards ceremony was held under the theme "Power the Difference".

The Chief Guest was the Chairman of AAI Paul Ratnayeke, while Director/CEO Ramal Jasinghe along with the Executive Committee members and the Senior Management graced the occasion.

General Manager - Sales and Marketing, Chula Hettiarachchi was proud to share the Company's great achievements and provided a sneak preview of the future plans.

He highlighted the initiatives of AAI that will enable this change and provide more power to the team of energetic and dedicated professionals, in making the difference in the fiercely competitive market place.

The Chairman - Paul Ratnayeke said that the Board together with the shareholders look forward for the greater achievements of the talented sales force with confidence. He said that taking on new opportunities that arise within a post war Sri Lanka, will enable AAI to strengthen the positioning of the Company amongst the competitors.

Director/CEO - Ramal Jasinghe, commending the achievements of the team, reinforced the values that the Company subscribes to without compromise.

He said that the unique business strategies & processes that AAI follow has driven the Company towards success in turbulent times.

Colombo International Book Fair opens on Sept.19

The countdown began this week to the annual Colombo International Book Fair (CIBF), opens at the BMICH on September 19.

In its 11th year, the fair will run for nine days encompassing two weekends, and will be open to the public for twelve hours each day, organisers said.

Nearly half a million book lovers are expected to flock to this year's exhibition, at which local booksellers and publishers have taken 360 stalls and 40 stalls have been allocated to foreign publishers. "Every bit of available space will be utilised in a well laid out stall plan to better accommodate the large crowds expected this year," said Secretary General of CIBF 2009 Upali Wanigasuriya.

DFCC Bank and Vardhana help IDPs

DFCC Bank and DFCC Vardhana Bank recently made a donation towards the IDP camps in the North. The donation, handed over to the ITN network was carried out in two phases. The first included dry rations, clothing and infant formula and drinking water - focusing on immediate relief measures due to the escalating crisis. Essential medicines were donated to the IDP camps in the second phase.
