BMC branch at A'pura

A new branch of the Building Materials Corporation (BMC) which was restructured under the Mahinda Chinthanaya to provide building materials and equipment at a fair price to consumers will be opened today in Anuradhapura.

Trade, Marketing Development, Co-operatives and Consumer Services Minister Bandula Gunawardene said that this is the first branch which will be opened after the BMC was restructured turning into a profitable organization under the State policies.

The Consumer Affairs Authority had received a number of complaints from consumers on selling a law quality building materials and equipment by traders. There are many complaints about the quality of material and equipment utilize to construct buildings and bridges in recent years.

Considering all this the Government has decided to restructure the BMC to cater to wide range of customers to meet increasing demands for building materials and ensure the highest quality, low cost and better customer service.
