Vimukthi Jayasundara (Film-maker)

We often see a continuity of cultural consciousness in any kind of a society. Suddenly, today, we experience a discontinuity of cultural consciousness and traditions in our society. I would call this 'super market generation' or the 'neon generation' where we cannot see a difference but 'sameness' in one to another. Due to the heavy technology usage among the youth, they are alienating the relationships in real life.

However, there is a huge progress in usage of technological equipments and also sharing knowledge in the world especially among youngsters. The technology has helped us to communicate with many people around the globe at once and the current development in telecommunication has also provided us many sources to grab information. Due to this development in the technology, the most privileged group in the society is the youngsters.

However, most of the European countries have now identified that there is a huge danger in using especially mobile phones for the humans' health. Therefore, today there are many rules and regulations that have been implemented to avoid using mobile phones and other highly technological equipments among youngsters.

My opinion towards the younger generation is that rather than having a simple black and white picture about the youth we need to examine their several aspects more patiently.
