Lester James Peries (Film-maker)

All young people irrespective of the country where they live in are tempted to be unconventional, radical and trying to see things differently. They want to develop their career in different fields and trying to be and act independently.

When I was young I wanted to be a journalist because those days I love to do analytical critiques of the society.

However, when I started my career as a script writer and film director I found it more interesting since it allows me more space to express my creativity.

Even though, there are many youngsters who are extremely talented, intelligent and committed, the potential for them to develop is very limited since we are a small country.

Therefore, it is essential to listen to their aspirations and desires. We are having a history of youth revolution and the disappointment on their dreams can lead to another revolution in the country.

However, I am quite happy about the current political position in the country.

Nowadays, the technological equipments and knowledge are quite popular among the younger generation. I see it as a positive sign since all of us today are living in a techno world.

Therefore, the knowledge has now become more democratic than before which is a positive sign of a progressive society.
