SL Ambassador meets US Defence official

Ambassador of Sri Lanka in the US, Jaliya Wickramasuriya last week met newly appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for South and Southeast Asia Robert M. Scher at the US Department of Defence.

Deputy Assistant Secretary congratulated the Sri Lankan Government for defeating the LTTE and for eliminating terrorism from the country.

Ambassador Wickramasuriya thanked the United States for providing support, in terms of curbing the funding and logistical network in the effort to eliminate the LTTE. Scher said the US Department of Defence would continue to work with Sri Lanka on bilateral and regional issues.
