US donates food items

US Government yesterday donated 14,700 metric tonnes of wheat flour, 1,040 metric tonnes of vegetable oil and 3,750 metric tonnes of dhal valued at US$ 14 million (Rs.1,600 million) to the Government to help consolidate the progress in improving the nutritional status and wellbeing of the IDPs in the North.

US Charge to Sri Lanka James R. Moore and USAID Director Rebecca Cohn, handed over the items to Nation Building and Estate Infrastructure Development Ministry Secretary W.K.K. Kumarasiri and Senior Presidential Advisor Basil Rajapaksa MP on behalf of the US government.
