Over Rs. 350m spent on sacred areas

Over Rs. 350 million have spent to develop the sacred areas of our country, said Urban Development and Sacred Area Development Minister Dinesh Gunawardena yesterday.

"We have spent Rs. 82.6 million for Western Province, Rs. 37.5 million for North Eastern Province, Rs. 89 million for Central Province, Rs. 34 million for North Central Province, Rs. 40 million for Uva Province, Rs. 13.6 million for Sabaragamuwa Province, Rs. 39.6 million for Eastern Province and Rs. 25.6 million for Southern Province. Due to these projects we can see a religious and cultural revival in the country," said Minister Gunawardena.

He also said the Ministry will open a three storied building in Sanchi Viharaya which is still under construction in Bopal, India and said that this will be a great cultural gift for India from Sri Lanka.
