Best Hollywood, Bollywood on SriLankan

Passengers on board SriLankan Airlines can watch the biggest blockbusters from Hollywood and Bollywood on long-haul flights to Europe, the Middle East and the Far East.

SriLankan’s line-up of inflight movies over the past 12 months won 12 of the 19 Oscars awarded in 2009, plus a huge haul of Golden Globes and Filmfare Awards.

SriLankan’s head of service delivery, captain Milinda Ratnayake said, “Our passengers don’t need to visit the cinema to watch the latest smash hits from the world of movies. Just sit back, choose your movie, put on your headphones, and relax while you fly with us.” SriLankan’s fleet of widebodied Airbus A330 and A340 aircraft have Touch Screen TVs at every seat with over 40 Movie, Television and radio channels and 16 interactive games.

Business class has a selection of additional movies in a separate library, which can be played on personal players at these seats.

The smash hit “Slumdog Millionaire”, winner of eight Oscars, heads the star-studded list of exciting movies that have been screened on the 16 movie channels on board SriLankan.

SriLankan’s Manager Inflight Service Support, Jehan Karunaratne said, “We take great pride in selecting only the best movies, because we want our passengers to be entertained during their long flights. We’re glad to see that the judges at the Oscars and Golden Globes agree with our choices as runaway hits! And we’ve got many more great movies lined up in the coming months!”

SriLankan features everything from epics to drama, musicals, thrillers, family movies, documentaries, cartoons and comedies. Films come in many different languages including English, Hindi, Mandarin Chinese, Arabic, Sinhala, Tamil, Japanese, Urdu, and Malayalam.


Fanta Cream Soda new brand of Coca-cola

Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka launched the Fanta Cream Soda - its newest addition to the Fanta portfolio. Fanta Cream Soda, the latest entrant in the Cream Soda category, in Sri Lanka has been introduced after extensive research, to suit the local palate.

Fanta Cream Soda will be made available in several bottle sizes including 300 ml and 500 ml Returnable Glass Bottles (RGB) and 500 ml and 1.5 L PET bottles. Fanta Cream Soda, a brand associated with fun and vibrancy is targeted at the fun loving youth of today with its unique flavour and taste. The entry of Fanta Cream Soda into the Sri Lankan beverage market is set to take the market by storm.

Fanta Cream Soda is the third brand to come under the Fanta umbrella subsequent to Fanta Grape Portello earlier this year and Fanta Orange. In addition the Funky bottle which was launched in August 2008 was a tremendous success among the youth and therefore Fanta Portello Grape and Fanta Cream Soda too have been packaged in the same bottle.

The islandwide launch of Fanta Cream Soda is further enhanced by an extensive communication campaign including a TV commercial, radio commercials, press adverts, out- of- home (OOH) media as well as brand activations and consumer sampling programs.

The Country Manager, Sri Lanka and Maldives, Coca-Cola Far East Limited Manish Chaturvedi said “This is a major step for us as it is the launch of a flavour which is already popular in Sri Lanka. With the launch of Fanta Cream Soda, we are geared to provide the consumers with a superior product made to international standards with the local palate in mind.

We have driven by the passion to provide our consumers beverage brands and flavours and Fanta Cream Soda is yet another step in that direction. We are sure that Fanta Cream Soda will be a success among our consumers across the island”.

According to Country Manager, Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka Ltd. Patrick Pech, “The launch of Fanta Cream Soda is yet another initiative by Coca-Cola Beverages to fulfil the beverage needs of Sri Lankan consumers. Fanta Cream Soda will be available across the island from mid July and we are confident of its success.


Eagles to attend MDRT conference

Eagle Financial Services Advisor K H H Wimalasena has achieved the rare distinction of being admitted to the ‘Court of the Table’ of the Million Dollar Round Table, an honour which is reserved for insurance sales performers with over triple the minimum requirement for Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT).

Fourteen insurance advisors of Eagle Insurance have qualified to attend the annual (MDRT) conference this year where the best insurance producers in the world gather annually. MDRT is an international network of leading insurance and investment financial service professionals and advisors who serve their clients by exemplary performance and the highest standards of ethics, knowledge and productivity.

With a membership of nearly 30,000 insurance salespersons from about 450 insurance companies around the world, the MDRT conference, held in Indianapolis, USA is the most prestigious global event that a life insurance salesperson can attend.

Battaramulla Ceylinco Insurance Company awarded the biggest compensation of Rs. 12 million to a policy holder in the area whose shop had suffered extensive damage due to fire.
