A delegation from the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) including SLIM President Saliya Weerasekara, Vice Presidents Rohan Somawansa and Thushara Perera and Immediate Past President R.M.P Dayawansa had the unique opportunity of meeting the world's distinguished Guru of Marketing Prof. Phillip Kotler, at a luncheon meeting organised by the Asian Marketing Federation in association with the Malaysian Marketing Association.

Prof. Kotler said that he was pleased with the recent positive developments in Sri Lanka and added that he was looking forward to visiting the country in the near future and meet Sri Lanka's marketing professionals.

The Asian Marketing Federation, which consists of national marketing associations across the Asian region, has taken the lead in promoting and developing the marketing profession in the region. Delegates from SLIM made a presentation focusing on the latest developments in Sri Lanka.

It highlighted the fact that Sri Lanka became the first country to defeat terrorism militarily and is now completely safe for tourists to enjoy its multi-faceted diversity. The delegation also presented Prof. Kotler with a gift to mark his 78th birthday.

SLIM President Saliya Weerasekara and President of the Philippines Marketing Association (PMA) Ms. Mylene Abiva also signed an MoU to exchange and shared knowledge between the two bodies. The PMA extended an invitation to SLIM to take part in the forthcoming 40th Philippines Marketing Conference.
