Northern Governor Dixon Dela Bandara handed over his resignation yesterday to take up a new posting as the Sri Lankan High Commissioner in the Maldives.

Sri Lankan Army Chief of Staff Major General G.A.Chandrasiri took oaths before President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees yesterday morning as the new Governor of the Northern Province. He was formerly appointed by the President as the Competent Authority on Northern development.
