Sierra to assist in Northern Province development

After the Security Forces captured the entire Northern Province, there has been a significant interest within the business community in Sri Lanka as well as overseas to explore opportunities in Jaffna and other key cities in the area.

Telecom operators too are seriously looking into expanding their network to this arena as communications are a vital tool for the development of the region.

Sierra Global Network Private Limited, one of the leading telecommunication infrastructure development companies in the country has been proactively working in the Northern Province assisting telecom operators to expand their networks.

In mid 1990s Sierra successfully constructed the Fibre Optic Cable network of SLT from Jaffna to Vavuniya.

Further, Sierra has successfully completed the 3G / GSM expansion project in Jaffna Peninsula for Mobitel at the beginning of this year in a very short time frame as requested by them.

“It has been a great challenge especially due to the given tight deadlines as well as considering the limitations of resources in the terrain. However, our team worked continuously for two months including Christmas and New Year without any break to achieve the set target by Mobitel.” he said.

Sierra has been engaged in many construction activities in Jaffna and other parts of the Northern Province over the past 20 years and has always been the key player in this region particularly for telecommunication infrastructure development and some other construction areas including building construction and roads.

The Jaffna Courts Complex and the Jaffna Technical College are some of the recent construction projects of Sierra in the Jaffna city.
