No presidential polls this year
The Government will not have presidential
elections this year, SLFP General Secretary and Agriculture and
Agrarian Services Development Minister Maithreepala Sirisena said
yesterday contradicting certain media, reports.

'UPFA victory inevitable'
The UPFA is in a formidable stand in the
Moneragala and Badulla districts and its victory at the forthcoming
Uva Provincial Council Election is inevitable, said Agriculture and
Agrarian Services Minister Maithripala Sirisena. The Minister was

Postal voting on July 27, 28
Postal voting in Local Government elections in
Uva, Jaffna and Vavuniya will be held on July 27 and 28, Additional
Commissioner of Elections W.P.Sumanasiri said. He said ballot papers
to postal voters will be issued from July 15 while applications for
postal voting closed on June 30.
