Puttalam District teams victorious

The championship of elle (men/women) competitions of 21st National Youth Sports Festival were won by Puttalam district teams.

The team game elle (men and women), cricket (men and women), volleyball (men and women), netball (men and women), kabadi (men and women) and football competitions were held at Maharagama, Hanwella and Meegoda.

The finals of volleyball (men) Nagarika Tharunaya and Kalutara, football (Trincomalee/Galle), netball (men), Nagarika Tharunaya and Kegalle Kabadi (men) Colombo and Batticaloa will be held July 31st at the 21st National Youth Sports Festival to be held at Vincent Dias grounds, Badulla.

Results of team events:

Netball (men): Qualified for finals Nagarika Tharunaya and Kegalle, 3rd place Puttalam district.

Netball (women): Champions - Kalutara District. 1st runner-up: Puttalam and 2nd runner-up: Kurunegala. The best player: Bagya Charika (Kalutara).

Softball cricket (men): Champions - Gampaha district. 1st runner-up: Ampara. 2nd runner-up: Batticaloa. Best player: S. Tharanga (Gampaha).

Softball cricket (women): Champions - Badulla district. 1st runner-up: Kurunegala and 2nd runner-up: Moneragala district. Best player: Ishara Damayanthi (Kurunegala).

Kabadi (men): Finals: Colombo and Batticaloa. 3rd place: Kurunegala district.

Kabadi (women): Champions - Ratnapura. 1st runner-up: Kegalle. 2nd runner-up: Vavuniya.

Elle (women): Champions - Puttalam. 1st runner-up: Kurunegala. 2nd runner-up: Moneragala. Best player: W. A. B. Priyangani (Puttalam).

Football (men): Finals: Galle and Trincomalee. 3rd place: Puttalam.

Volleyball (men): Finals: Nagarika Tharunaya and Kalutara. 3rd place: Galle.

Volleyball (women): Champions - Kurunegala. 1st runner-up: Anuradhapura. 2nd runner-up: Puttalam. Best player: T. M. H. P. Thennakoon (Kurunegala).

The finals of volleyball (men), football (men), netball (men), kabadi (men) Colombo and Batticaloa will be played on July 31 at Vincent Dias grounds, Badulla.
