Diversification of Oasis Hospital

The Oasis Hospital (Pvt) Ltd., Colombo will diversify into the
medical education industry with the setting up of a private medical
school at a cost of Rs. one billion for those who could not obtain
sufficient z-score to enter a Government Medical College, Managing
Director, Oasis Hospital (Pvt) Ltd., Dr. E. M .S. Edirisinghe said.
The hospital celebrates its 10th anniversary and is also going to
implement an expansion and a diversification of services at a cost of Rs.
100 million, he said.
Under this program the hospital opened a new lobby area with more
accommodation and are going to open five new operating theatres.
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital is to be provided with
the latest state-of-the-art medical equipment and facilities. In
addition a Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) will also be opened in
the near future, he said.
At present at Oasis Hospital (Pvt) Ltd., cardiac patients are given
the opportuniy of undergoing surgery without having to wait for long
periods and such patients are charged an affordable fee. In addition,
the Oncology Unit of the hospital also offers patients 24-hour service.
As charges of private hospitals remain at a high level at present,
the Oasis Hospital is offering affordable charges to patients providing
an enhanced service. The annual growth rate of the hospital is very
encouraging. There is a great potential in the Northern and Eastern
Provinces for private hospitals, Dr. Edirisinghe said.
