Forces to play key role in development drive

Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka on Saturday asserted that Sri Lanka’s Security Forces in the future would play a key role in the country’s development drive following their success in defeating terrorism.

More facilities for disabled soldiers

Land earmarked in Athtidya:

Initiatives have been made by the Government to take full responsibility over Security Forces’ personnel who are mentally or physically disabled during operations launched against LTTE terrorism. Under this initiative, a rehabilitation and welfare centre will be established with immediate effect aiming to rehabilitate soldiers mentally and physically, Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) Director General Lakshman Hulugalle said.

“The Sri Lanka Police Training College can be considered as the birth place of a police officer. His life is enlightened by the intensive training received at this college. I too received training here over ten years ago,” said SP Sanjaya Dharmaratne, newly appointed Director of the Kalutara Police Training College addressing police officers at the Magul Maduwa premises, Kalutara recently.
