Maintain discipline - SP

“The Sri Lanka Police Training College can be considered as the birth place of a police officer. His life is enlightened by the intensive training received at this college. I too received training here over ten years ago,” said SP Sanjaya Dharmaratne, newly appointed Director of the Kalutara Police Training College addressing police officers at the Magul Maduwa premises, Kalutara recently.

Dharmaratne said a police officer who performed his duties honourably would be of immense service to society. “I am a fully contented police officer today owing to the training I received at this institution.

Dharmaratne said it was heartening to note that some of his former teachers and instructors were still in service at the institute. “I have a great regard for them for what they have taught me.”

Dharmaratne said a police officer should always lay equal emphasis on skill, knowledge, correct attitude and devotion to duty. Even a small mistake on their part should be properly identified and corrected. Police officers should keep this specially in mind during their training.

Therefore each police officer must have an observant mind in performing one’s duty. The police college complex and its environs look nice and better today. Therefore everyone should be interested in not only maintaining it but also to improving its standards.

All police officers should be highly disciplined from the most junior officer to most senior officers.

The proper discipline in the institution should well maintained, the Director said. It may be that some officer have been addicted to certain improper ways. However, everyone should adhere to the policy of ‘Mathata Thitha’ giving up liquor totally, SP Dharmaratne emphasised.

Proposing the vote of thanks, the Assistant Director W. K. Godwin said the Police College with arrival of the new Director has already shown a brightness and all of us should co-operate with him to make this a place of more and more lightness, he stated.

The Deputy Director D. P. H. de Silva also spoke.

Elpitiya training wing Director Jayalath Gunatilaka also participated.
