CSE records highest number of transactions

The Colombo Stock Exchange created history yesterday by recording the highest number of transactions for a trading day.

A total of 15,290 trades were executed, surpassing the previous record of 13,254 trades on July 28 2005.

The turnover was Rs. 2.0 billion. The Colombo bourse has seen a significant growth during the year 2009, with the All Share Price Index (ASPI) recording a gain of 60.0 percent for the year to date, and the Milanka Price Index (MPI) recording a growth of 66.3 percent year to date.
