Traffic plan for National Victory Parade
Several roads in the Colombo city will be temporarily closed on
Wednesday, June 3 on account of the National Victory Parade held at
Galle Face Green, Police headquarters said yesterday. Police also
announced alternative roads motorists could take to avoid inconvience
during this period.
Roads to be temporarily closed are:
Galle Road from Bambalapitiya junction to Galle Face, Abdul Gaffoor
Mawatha from Galle Road junction towards Kollupitiya, Green Path from
Flower Road traffic lights junction to Liberty roundabout, Sir James
Peiris Mawatha from Piththala junction to Slave Island traffic light
junction (up and down), Perahera Mawatha - from Sir James Peries Mawatha,
Navam Mawatha from Sir James Peiris Mawatha to Navam Mawatha, Justice
Akbar Mawatha from Maccan Markar Mawatha Slave Island to Galle Face,
Ibbanwala junction to Union Place, D. R. Wijewardene Mawatha from Gamini
roundabout to Regal roundabout, Lotus Road, from CTO junction to Ceramic
junction and Ceramic junction to old Parliament, York Street from
Ceramic junction to York Street, Chatham Street from CTO junction to
York Street and YMBA junction to Baron Jayatilleke Mawatha.
Alternative roads: From Fort to Galle road via Fort along Reclamation
Road, Lotus road, CTO junction, Olcott Mawatha, Technical junction, 1st
Division Maradana, Bridge junction, Darley Road, Ibbanwala Junction,
Lipton Circus, C. W. W. Kannangara Mawatha, Nanda Motors junction,
Independence Reid Avenue, Thummulla, Bullers Road, Bambalapitiya
junction to Galle Road.
From Galle Road to Pettah: From Bambalapitiya junction along Bullers
Road, Thummulla, Reid Avenue, Thurstan Road, Royal Roundabout, Cambridge
Place, turn right from Museum junction, Nanda Motors junction, Horton
roundabout, De Soysa roundabout, Lipton Circus, Union Place, Ibbanwala
junction, Darley Road, Gamini roundabout, Bridge junction, 1st Division
Maradana Technical junction, Olcott Mawatha to Pettah. |
