Veranda excels at Annual Art Exhibition

At the Annual Art Competition coordinated and organized by the Ceylon
Society of Arts in Colombo, Veranda Bandaranaike won most number of
awards a competitor achieved.
Her creations exhibited at the competition won the gold and silver
award under the category of “Composition”, silver award for the category
of “Wild Life” and bronze award for the category of “Line Drawing”.
She displayed a special talent in the category of “Portrait” and won
the Special Merit Award under this category. Thus she managed to grab
five distinctive awards at the Annual Art Competition.
Professor Carlo Fonseka and the high ranking officials of the Ceylon
Society of Arts including the present president of the society Kalapathi
Pulasthi Ediriweera attended the awards ceremony concluded at the John
de Silva Memorial Theatre in Colombo in December last year. All
creations forwarded for the competitions along with the award winning
creations were exhibited at the National Art Gallery at the end of 2008. |
