Argentina, Cuba debate cooperation
Argentina: Cuban ambassador to Buenos Aires Aramis Fuente and the
governor of the province of Misiones, Argentine Maurice Closs debated
actions to boost and promote Cuban collaboration with that province.
The debates took place in Posadas, 620 miles north of Buenos Aires,
which also included the reviewing of the state of bilateral relations,
diplomatic sources told Prensa Latina.
Fuente also visited the municipalities of Apostoles, Montecarlo,
Campo Viera and the capital of Misiones, where he was warmly welcomed by
the mayor of the city and declared Guest of Honor.
The diplomat held meetings with relatives of Argentine students in
Cuba, with officials of municipality governments, members of the
Associations of Friendship with Cuba and with residents of different
communities.
During these meetings the Cuban ambassador spoke about the economic,
financial and commercial blockade imposed by the US on Cuba almost half
a century ago, creating a loss of 93,000 million dollars.
He also explained the case of the antiterrorist Cuban Five unjustly
held in US prisons more than a decade ago. The case of the Five gathers
people from around the world, calling on the US Supreme Court to review
the rigged judicial process levied against them.
