Parliament yesterday extended warm greetings to Health Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva who was elected World Health Assembly (WHA) President.

Chief Government whip and Urban Development and Sacred Area Development Minister Dinesh Gunawardena at the commencement of proceedings, said Minister de Silva's appointment as WHA President was a great honour to the country.

Government and Opposition MPs joined in to wish the Minister.

Meanwhile, Speaker W.J.M. Lokubandara said that Minister de Silva was a son of Uva and this international recognition is a pride for all people hailing from the Uva Province.
