SLFP a party of all communities

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party should play a pivotal role in rebuilding the country which was freed from terrorism by our Security Forces, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Addressing the Executive Committee and All Island Central Committee members of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, the President said the SLFP gave leadership to liberate the country from terrorism which detered the country’s development for over three decades.

“Today, the SLFP has earned commendation from all segments of the society. It has become a party of all communities, the president said. The President said the honour bestowed on him for liberating the country should actually bestowed on SLFP as it is capable of strengthening the country and the nation.

Resolutions commending the President and the war heroes for liberating the country unanimously passed at the SLFP Executive Committee and the All Island Central Committee.

Several other resolutions including a resolution to appoint Minister Dullas Allahapperuma as SLFP treasures was passed unanimously. The resolution to appoint Vinaygamurthy Muralitharan as the Vice President of the SLFP was also passed unanimously at this meeting.

Among other matters discussed were the role of the party in the forthcoming election, week long membership drive of SLFP and 19th National convention of the SLFP scheduled for June 12.
