New Mahaweli Authority DG

Dharmasiri de Alwis assumed duties as Director General of the Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka from May 7.

He is an engineer by profession and commenced his career as project engineer in 1970 at the Polgolla site of the Mahaweli Development Board.

He held various positions in the Mahaweli Development Board, Mahaweli Construction Agency of MASL and in 2000, he was appointed Chairman of the Mahaweli Consultancy Bureau.

He is a Fellow Member of the Institution of Engineers in Sri Lanka and, currently, the President-elect of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka.
