YMMA welcomes end to LTTE terrorism

The All Ceylon YMMA Conference which has a network of branches spread throughout Sri Lanka representing the Muslim community congratulates President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the defence forces for their great achievement in wiping out terrorism.

“We admire the resilient and steadfast approach of the Government adopted towards its march to achieve the cherished goal to make Sri Lanka united under one flag.

It is indeed a remarkable victory unsurpassed in world history, considering the fact a substantial section of our own citizens, who were used as human shields, had to be rescued from the clutches of the terrorists in the wake of all odds and false pretexts showered from all corners of the world,” National President of YMMA, Iflal Abdulla said.

“Now that we have overcome a major obstacle of wiping out terrorism from our country, it is our fervent hope and desire that Sri Lanka once more flourish as one nation and co-exist with its multi-ethnicity.

Towards this end, it is indeed, heartwarming to note the statement made by the President that in his governance he has already taken steps to remove the word “minority” from the vocabulary and that all citizens are equal in this motherland of ours. We sincerely salute him for this bold and courageous statement made in Parliament,” the statement said.

“The need of the moment is to set in motion a healing process to bring about reconciliation among the effected people and methodically resettle them in their own habitat that would eventually pave the way for the much craved economic revival in the entire country,” it further added.
