Muslim theologian hails President's speech
"The war in Sri Lanka was not against Tamil people. It was against
terrorism. Our victory is not the defeat of Tamil people. It was the
victory of Sri Lankans", President of All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama M.I.M.
Rizwe said.
In his Friday sermon at the Kandy Line Mosque he quoted the statement
of President Mahinda Rajapaksa's historical speech in Parliament on May
19.
He lauded the President's speech quoting his brave declaration that
"there is no more minorities in Sri Lanka in future. As long as we live
in motherland united no enemy can bring our country to slavery.
"This is the world's worst terrorist organization. In the next three
years we should develop the country as fast as possible," he said.
Rizwe expressed his views on the President's speech very positively
and said that to quicken development this is the right opportunity for
all communities without any party differences. "Let us be patriotic
Muslims and help the Government to rebuild the nation and march towards
a prosperous Sri Lanka," Rizwe said.
