Civilian casualties :
Cries of US and its allies
While killing hundreds of civilians in
Afghanistan and in Iraq, cries of the United States and its allies
on Sri Lanka (who has “Zero Civilian Death Policy” when fighting
terrorism) remind us the story of a tricking thief who cried “thief,
thief catch a thief”, just to avert the attention and as a part of a
ploy set to escape from the crowd around him.

Miliband - the man who loves controversies
One of my favourite TV characters was Mr. Bean.
Years ago, it was a popular comedy series. The humour largely came
from Mr. Bean’s original (and often absurd) solutions to problems
and his total disregard for others when solving them, his pettiness,
and occasional malevolence. At times, without laughing at his
buffooneries I felt sorry for his nit-witted behaviour.

Special Rapporteurs leap on the bandwagon
The Peace Secretariat is not entirely surprised
by a recent statement of several United Nations Special Rapporteurs,
which is of a piece with a recent campaign to rouse emotions about
and against Sri Lanka. It is however disappointed that the
Rapporteurs have not stopped to think that such statements may
deprive Sri Lanka of the peace it has long sought, and which now
seems so near.
