The opening ceremony of the event will be held on May 14 at 6 p.m.
Emeritus Professor of Psychology of the University of Colombo and the
National Authority on Tobacco and Alcohol Prof. Carlo Fonseka will grace
the occasion as chief guest.
Lochana is a versatile student who had shown her skills towards
aesthetics early in life. She had been a member of the Ceylon Society of
Arts since she was two, making her mark as their youngest student and
also the youngest to hold a public solo exhibition.
She enjoys mixing bright shades together and each of her brush
strokes brings out a creation which is unique to the young lass.
History, Environmental science and Biology are some of her favourite
subjects besides art. Her goal is to carve a niche for herself as an
artiste with new and diverse creations.
She is the daughter of journalist and human resource development
trainee Daminda Jeewan Ranasinghe and her mother is a former teacher,
Dammika Herath.
She had brushed up her skills under the guidance of principal
Kalapathi Pulasthi Ediriweera, Jayantha Tisera, Danny Wijesiriwardena
and many others.
