Six-a-side cricket tourney for Bogollagama Trophy
Minister of Foreign Affairs Rohitha Bogollagama has initiated a
six-a-side Cricket tournament to be held from April 9 to 11, 2009 which
will no doubt bring together the youths in Colombo District to a single
platform. This platform will be further utilized for a wider role in
Nation Building as the situation demands.
The organizing committee under the Chairmanship of Sri
Jayawardenapura Kotte Municipal Council Member, Udyama Niyathapala,
intends to attract 300 teams from the Colombo District and the first and
second round tournament matches will be held at four different grounds.
All matches will be officiated by umpires appointed by the Sports
Ministry. Star players from the Sri Lanka Cricket Team will also be
present during the tournament.
The schedule of events is as follows:
Preliminary Round Matches will be played on April 9 and 10, 2009 from
8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the four venues.
* Ananda Sasthralaya Grounds, Kotte,
* Sri Jayawardenapura School Grounds, Kotte,
* Mirihana Police Grounds, Mirihana,
* Angampitiya Grounds, Mission Road, Kotte.
Final Round Matches will be worked off on April 11, 2009 at the
Ananda Sasthralaya Grounds, Kotte.
Awards Ceremony and Musical Extravaganza will be on April 11, 2009
from 6 p.m. onwards at Ananda Sasthralaya Grounds, Kotte.
