UNP MP questioned over abduction charge

The Colombo Crime Division yesterday questioned UNP Kurunegala District Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekera in connection with the abduction of Sri Jayawardenapura University don Dhammika Ganganath Dissanayake who was also the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation under the UNF Government.

According to Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera, the special police team investigating the abduction of Prof Dissanayake has found out that Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekera had received a telephone call from a public phone which was also used by an unidentified person to threaten Prof. Dissanayake.

SSP Gunasekera said the UNP Parliamentarian has received a telephone call from this number just a few minutes after Prof Dissanayake was threatened by this unidentified person.

“The CCD questioned MP Dayasiri Jayasekera in connection with this telephone conversation for over three hours and recorded a statement”, he said.
