Home secy, cops summoned in Lankan attack probe

An inquiry tribunal, comprising Justice Syed Shabbar Raza Rizvi of
the Lahore High Court, on Saturday summoned the Punjab home secretary
and other top officials of the police and district government to record
their statements in judicial proceedings about the terrorist attack on
the Sri Lankan cricket team near the Qaddafi Stadium on March 3, 2009.
Among other officials who were summoned included the Punjab inspector
general of police, Lahore CCPO, Lahore DCO, DIG (Operations), DIG (VVIP
Securities), SSP (Operations), Lahore, and SP Model Town.
They were directed to appear before the tribunal on March 24, the
first day of the proceedings. The tribunal has also summoned the AIG
Special Branch, AIG CIA (former and incumbent), AIG (Investigations) and
in-charge security, Pearl Continental Hotel, Lahore, on March 25.
The high court has already invited the public and all those concerned
to appear and assist the tribunal conducting the inquiry into the
terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team.
