SP developed under UPFA
D. C. de Silva, Kahawa special correspondent
I have no hesitation, to commend the public sector development
progress, achieved under Mahinda Chinthana principles, activated by the
Southern Province Chief Minister (CM) in the Province for the past few
years, said Southern Province Governor, Kumari Balasuriya at
Gonapinuwala.
She was the Chief Guest at the ceremonial commissioning of the newly
built Gonapinuwala Divisional Secretariat and its affiliated official
residence at a cost of Rs. 26 million in the Ambalangoda electorate.
She said, Shan Wijayalal de Silva holding the office of Provincial
Chief Minister for the past five years, performed his duties to the
entire satisfaction of President Rajapaksa and people of the Province.
I know very well of his active performances under Jathika Saviya Gama
Neguma and Maga Neguma, under the principles of Mahinda Chinthana.
Ninety percent of the rural roads in the Province have been
satisfactorily carpeted or cemented, up to now.
The Governor said, Wherever I visited the province’ I didn’t see any
area away from ongoing public sector development projects. When speaking
of the public transportation activities in the province, he had taken
steps to deploy buses on many interior roads which were never used by
buses before.
She said, there were so many new buildings erected by the SPC
everywhere in the Province in order to house Government offices in
places of old and dilapidated buildings. School bus services are in
operation everywhere in the province in order to facilitate
schoolchildren.
All the impassable roads in an around Ambalangoda were reconstructed
by the SPC. On all those development projects the SPC under Shan
Wijayalal has spent SPC funds carefully and meaningfully. The Governor
said, Rs. 1,200 million has been allocated for the Jathika Saviya Maga
Neguma development program.
I am meeting Health Authorities in the districts of Galle, Matara and
Hambantota these days in order to rectify shortcomings in that sector.
The Government and the SPC were doing all these development activities
while engaged in a war with the LTTE Separatist Tigers, in order to
safeguard our Motherland’s territorial integrity.
Chief Minister Shan Wijayalal de Silva addressing the occasion said,
Ambalangoda area was given a new face look only under an SLFP led
Government and not the UNP. Ambalangoda and around remained in a same
old form for centuries and all those things were subjected to a drastic
change under development programs stipulated in the Mahinda Chinthana.
Galle District Secretary Ashoka Jayasekara, Galle Additional District
Secretary W. Weerakoon, SPC Additional Chief Secretary A.P.P.D. Vas
Gunawardena, Ambalangoda P. S. Chairman, P. S. Members, U. C. Chairman,
Gonapinuwala Divisional Secretary Nimal Gunawardena, Mahasangha and a
large crowd participated. |
