Four arrested with gold, copper plated Buddha statues

Galagedara Police arrested four people with gold and copper plated ancient Buddha statues in their possession in Poliyadda on Saturday.

Plated bo leaves, cobra and ancient jewellery were also among the stolen items. Police arrested the four while they were discussing about selling the items at a house of a suspect where the stolen items were hidden, Galagedara Police OIC, Inspector Susil Mallawaarachchi said.

Investigations have revealed the suspects are from Akuressa and Matara. Galagedara Police are investigating.
