CPWCIC celebrates:
International Women’s Day
The Central Province Women’s Chamber of Small Industries and Commerce
(CPWCIC) has been commemorating International Women’s Day which falls on
March 8 every year.
As a Chamber working exclusively with women entrepreneurs, this event
has been one of the main items in their annual calendar.
In the past, the chamber has collaborated with the Ministry of
Industries and Women’s Affairs and the Federation of Chambers of
Commerce of Sri Lanka in organizing this event.
This year the National Peace Council and the Business for Peace
Alliance will assist the CPWCIC in sponsoring this program.
The Chamber will hold a show this year with the participation of over
500 women. The main objective of this event is to bring women from all
ethnic groups together to build harmony between all groups, to share
each others experience by their active participation and to work
together as a nation.
They have sent invitations to all organizations that are working
towards the development and safeguarding rights of women.
We have also invited the Sinhala, Hindu, Muslim and Malay Women’s
organizations to take part in the event.
The program will have cultural events performed by Sinhala, Hindu,
Muslim, Malay and Burgher communities.
The theme for this year’s event is “Role of Women in integration and
harmony between all ethnic groups for a better Sri Lanka”. The event
will be held on March 25 at the General Post Office, Kandy.
There will be a felicitation ceremony of 14 members of the Central
Province Women’s Chamber of Small Industries and Commerce who have won
awards at local and National level for entrepreneurship excellence. |
