Munchee National Volleyball Championships commences

The Munchee National Volleyball championship conducted by Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation in association with National Youth Services Council conducted the second stage of provincial level in six provinces to find the qualifiers for the national level stage which commences today.

The championship which commenced in mid February completed the first stage at Divisional Secretariat level where over 4,500 teams for men and women competed.

The national level matches are to be staged at National Youth Services Council indoor courts commencing 9 a.m. The ceremonial opening of this stage will be attended by the President of SLVBF Dilan Perera, Chairman, NYSC Bashwara Senaka Guneratne and Nandana Wickramage, Director, Business, Ceylon Biscuits Ltd, the sponsors.

The final of both men and women sections are scheduled to be held on April 11 at the same venue followed by the award ceremony.

Southern Province - Men: 1. Carlton SC, Walasmulla, 2. Sri Lanka Air Force, 3. Vijayaba SC. Women: 1. Sri Lanka Air Force, 2. Vijayaba National School, Hungama.

Sabaragamuwa Province - Men: 1. Rajasinghe SC, Ruwanwella, 2. Nilwala SC, Balangoda. Women: 1. Rantharu SC, Ratnapura, 2. White Pigeon SC, Deraniyagala.

Western Province - Men: 1. Lucky Six SC, Pothupitiya, 2. Nilmini SC, Kaduwela, 3. Sri Lanka Navy SC. Women: 1. National Youth Services Council, 2. Nilmini SC, Kaduwela, 3. Henegama MMV SC.

Eastern Province - Men: 1. United SC, Dehiattakandiya, 2. Nandimithra SC, Ampara. Women: 1. Mihindupura SC, Trincomalee, 2.Swashakthi SC, Mahaoya.

Northern Province - Men: 1. Young Hindu SC, Awarangal, 2.United SC, Kankesanthurai. Women: 1. United SC, Kankesanthurai, 2. Young Hindu SC, Awarangal.

Uva Province - Men: 1. Bandarawela Volleyball SC, 2. Rober SC, Haputale. Women: 1. Kreeda Shakthi SC, Siyabalanduwa, 2. Singha SC, Haldummulla.

Wayamba - Men: 1. New Star SC, Galgamuwa, 2. St. Anthony’s SC, Arachchikattuwa. Women: 1. Young Speed SC, Ibbagamuwa, 2. United SC, Nattandiya.

Central Province - Men: 1. Sri Lanka Army Caps, Kandy 2. Sri Lanka Army, Pujapitiya, 3. Ekamuthu SC, Pathadumbara. Women: 1.Keppetipola SC, Pallepola, 2. Weera Perakum SC, Yatawatte, 3. Devians SC, Kandy.

North Central Province - Men: 1. Cosis SC, Wilachchiya, 2. Randunu SC, Medirigiriya. Women: 1. Sri Lanka Army, Wilachchiya, 2. Anuradhapura MMV SC.

Division I Qualifiers - Men: Sri Lanka Air Force, Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Police, Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Sri Lanka Railway, Muwangala Eksath SC, Damana, Pragathi SC, Uhana, Senanayake MMV SC, Madampe,Sri Lanka Army Super SC, Kandy and Suhada SC, Yatinuwara.
