Cabinet decisions
Japanese grant of Yen 520 million for the Food Security Project for
underprivileged farmers
The Cabinet has approved a memorandum submitted by President Mahinda
Rajapaksa who is also the Finance and Planning Minister to sign Exchange
of Notes with the Government of Japan and enter into a Grant Agreement
with the Japan International Co-operation Agency for an amount of
Japanese Yen 520,000,000 from Food Security Project for underprivileged
farmers.
Improvement of Atabage-Dunukeulla Road
The Cabinet has approved a memorandum submitted by Plantation
Industries Minister D.M. Jayarathe to acquire and develop the
Atabage-Dunukeulla Road and to acquire the required lands from
Udapalatha DS Division gazetted. This road will be able to access easily
and quickly to the Kandy-Nuwara Eliya main road.
Financial Assistance from ADB for the Dry Zone Urban Water &
Sanitation Project
The Cabinet has approved a memorandum submitted by President Mahinda
Rajapaksa who is also the Finance and Planning Minister Mahinda
Rajapaksa to enter into the agreements for the implementation of dry
zone urban water and sanitation project.
The total investment cost of this project is US$ 113.33 mn. It
includes a loan of US $ 59.78 mn from the Asian Development Fund (ADF),
a grant of US$ 23.22 mn and US$ 2.0 mn from the Netherlands Trust Fund
for the Water Financing Partnership Facility administered by ADB of the
total cost of the project, the Government contribution will be US$ 28.33
mn.
The loan supports for the rehabilitation, expansion and development
of water and sanitation infrastructure in the major towns of Vavuniya,
Mannar, Chilaw and Puttlam, in the dry zone.
