IPFDA seminars
The Institute of Public Finance and Development Accountancy (IPFDA),
the only professional body dedicated to the public sector accountants
and auditors is being activated and strengthened by the Government to
enhance professionalism in the public sector financial management.
Continuous professional development and membership accreditation to
enhance the professional image of the public sector accountants and
auditors are the primary mottos of the institute. Currently the
Institute is working together with the Institute of Government Accounts
and Finance and Financial Management Training Arm of the Minister of
Finance and Planning under the guidance of an advisory Council
co-chaired by the Auditor General and the Secretary Trade Marketing
Development Cooperative and Consumer Services (Former Deputy Secretary
to the Treasury) to promote professional development in the public
sector financial management.
The Institute in its effort to professionalise its membership has
conducted a series of seminars and workshops jointly with the Treasury
Departments and the Auditor General's Department on the areas of
corporate planning, budgeting, accounting, internal control and audit,
public procurement and project management with a view to promote
professional development in the public sector. The Institute, Ministry
of Finance and Planning and the Auditor Generals Department have jointly
organized a two-day National Conference of the public sector accountants
and auditors and experience sharing with Controller Generals of Accounts
of the Association of Government Accounts Organizations of Asia (AGAOA)
and Auditor General's of SAARC member countries of the Association of
Supreme Audit Institutions of Asia (ASOSAI) to be held today and
tomorrow at the Hotel Galadari, under the theme "New Public Management
and Accountability" with the assistance of ADB Fiscal Management Reform
Program.
The conference will commence with the inaugural session today from
8.30 to 10.30 a.m. followed by Technical Sessions.
Eleven papers will be presented at the conference by eminent persons
from Sri Lanka and abroad at seven technical sessions for deliberations
as follows;
The sessions have been structured to accommodate the key areas
relevant to the theme. This conference is expected to provide an
opportunity to share the knowledge, skills and experience among
professionals to strengthen the financial management practices in the
country. |
