CIM launches Introductory Certificate in Marketing in the Maldives
CIM - launched their Introductory Certificate in Marketing program in
the Maldives recently, at a ceremony at the Youth Centre Seminar Hall in
Male.
It was organized by the CIM Member Group Maldives Chapter under the
patronage of The Chartered Institute of Marketing Sri Lanka Region.
Chairman CIM Sri Lanka Region Shiraz Latiff, Regional Director, South
Asia and Vice Chairperson, CIM Sri Lanka Region, Chitrangani Herat
Gunaratne, Head of Education of CIM Sri Lanka Region Ajith Medis and
Chairman, CIM Member Group Maldives Chapter Abdullah Reyshan and other
officials of the CIM Member Group - Maldives Chapter were present.
With the introduction of the CIM Introductory Certificate in
Marketing program for Ordinary Level qualified students, the institute
expects to broaden opportunities for students in the Maldives to CIM
qualification. The program is designed to familiarise students with the
basic principles of marketing and provide a fast track to the CIM
qualification; and the institute foresees a lot of potential given the
latent demand for quality marketing education in the country.
CIM Accreditation was conferred on Villa College in addition to the
existing centre Focus Education Centre. Since the launch of the CIM
program in 2004, examinations have been conducted in the Maldives with
the assistance of the British Council. However, as students underwent
difficulties due to limited access to education facilities and study
material, the setting up of two CIM Accredited Study Centres in The
Maldives has met a long-felt need of the market and will enable students
to study for the CIM qualification in their home country.
Regional Director, South Asia and Vice Chairperson CIM Sri Lanka
Region Chitrangani Herat Gunaratne said that since the launch of the CIM
Member Group - the Maldives Chapter in May 2008, CIM Sri Lanka Region
has been able to take several ground breaking steps towards promoting
the CIM Qualification in the South Asia Region.
She said that moves are under way to introduce the CIM qualification
in Bangladesh and that the initial discussions with government officials
and prospective study centres have been very positive. |
