Ananda Clinch Polonowita Trophy

Leg spinner Matheesha Perera captured six wickets for 61 to spearhead Ananda College to a rousing nine wicket outright victory over Prince of Wales College Moratuwa and concluded at Ananda Mawatha yesterday.

The Anandians also clinched the Anuruddha Polonowita Trophy which was on offer for the first time.

The Trophy was donated by the Cricket Wing of Ananda College in honour of their former coach Anuruddha Polonowita who has produced the most number of national players in the past.

Prince of Wales: 118 149 (M. Azim 39, D. Chandima 31, J. Jayasuriya 23, M. Perera 6 for 61, S. Perera 2 for 18)

Innings win for Nalanda

Nalanda College routed Sri Rahula College Matara outright by an innings and 85 runs in their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match concluded at Campbell Place yesterday.

Mahanama College put up a fine performance to take a close first innings lead over Thurstan College in their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match which began at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Chatura Peiris snapped up four wickets for 17 to help St. Peter’s College restrict St. Anthony’s College to 201 runs in their first innings on the opening day of their inter school cricket tournament match which began at Bambalapitiya yesterday.

Mahinda College Galle batted the entire second day to make a formidable 275 for 9 in their first innings and force a draw to their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match against St. Benedict’s College concluded at Kotahena yesterday.

91 run win for Trinity

Trinity College outplayed Dharmapala MV outright by an innings and 91 runs in their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match concluded at Pannipitiya yesterday.

Moratu vidyalaya in tenth win

Moratu Vidyalaya recorded their tenth outright victory in twelve matches when they trounced St. Mary’s College, Kegalle by 43 runs after conceding a first innings lead of ten runs in their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match played at Kegalle.
