Minister Devananda condemns Tiger attacks on civilians

“The Tiger leadership with his unacceptable and incorrect policies acting on his free will for his own benefits, is today lying on his death-bed gasping the last breath and with his imminent death, is striving hard to completely destroy the innocent Tamil People,” Secretary General of EPDP and Social Services and Social Welfare Minister Douglas Devananda said.

The Minister said that the Tiger leadership with the selfish motive of saving his dear life was holding hundreds of thousand of innocent civilians forcibly in Wanni as a human shield preventing their escape to the Government controlled areas, subjecting them at the same time to severe harassment and atrocities and hiding among them shamelessly.

Whilst he and his party vehemently condemned this barbaric act of the Tiger leadership urged all others who respect humanity to come forward for outright condemning of this Tiger brutality.

The Minister pointed out that it was necessary to compel the international community to force the Tiger leadership who in history did not have one iota of feeling for the Tamil people to stop immediately the atrocious attacks perpetrated on the innocent civilians trapped in Wanni and release them from their grip to move on to safe areas.

The Minister noted with much concern that he was shocked to hear that some of the bullet ridden bodies including those of small children were shattered into pieces, a scene of carnage which no person with a proper frame of mind would ever wish to see, however it was another page of atrocious history of Tigers.

“Tamil people could heave a sigh of relief only when the Tiger leadership is completely destroyed, the Minister added. The Minister wished sharing of grief with the next-of-kin of those who lost their lives and quick recovery to the injured,” he said in a press release.
