Sachin wins President's Cup
Richard Dwight
The two day annual Golf Tournament held last Saturday and Sunday for
the President's Cup at the Royal Colombo Golf Club witnessed as many as
120 golfers vying for the coveted prize.
This is one amongst the other main events in the golf calendar of the
RCGC, and as such much enthusiasm did prevail during the two rounds of
golf played on both days.
The most impressive was the 12 year old schoolboy, Sachin de Silva,
from the Colombo British School, the winner with 138 to edge out Sunil
Jayakody, who had a score of 140 to be the runner-up.
The others who excelled to be in the reckoning were Dayasiri
Muthumala and Sumedha Amarasinghe. Sachin apparently is a scion of a
golfing family. At the Luncheon cum awards ceremony, which was steered
last afternoon by the General Manager of RCGC, Chula de Silva, saw the
President of the RCGC, Ferrin Careem, congratulating the Sri Lanka
Amateur Golf Champion Mithun Perera on his winning the Asia-Pacific Open
Amateur 2009 Championship.
